Members of JEB travelled to Preston last Saturday for the Spring meeting of the North-West Esperanto Federation. Tim, Rolf and Clare joined regular members from the local area, as well as visitors from as far afield as Wales and Scotland, for an enjoyable afternoon of Esperanto activities

Highlights of the event included the delicious cream cakes which were served after lunch, and an exciting raffle from which both Rolf and Tim walked away with a prize These were interspersed with more serious business such as the federation’s AGM, during which Stephen Thompson was reelected as President and Ian MacDowall as Secretary. This was followed by a talk from the guest speaker, who this time was none other than Clare from JEB, on the theme of ‘Esperanto kaj mi: spertoj kaj esperoj’. Despite being somewhat nervous in advance, Clare survived the presentation and managed not to send any of the audience members to sleep
