Internacia Junulara Kongreso 2009

Sunday, July 26th, 2009 by Mikeo

:) (more…)

JEB mentioned in the New Poland Express

Monday, July 13th, 2009 by Radio

Junularo Esperantista Brita attained international fame today with a passing mention in an online edition of ‘The New Poland Express’.

The article, which informs readers of the forthcoming Universala Kongreso, due to take place in Bialystok shortly, concludes with a reference to JEB.

The British Esperanto Youth organisation, though, should take care in displaying their organisation’s initials, JEB, during the gathering, as this is a rather offensive word in Polish.

One member of JEB has already voiced regret on Twitter that we have not invested in corporate T shirts for the event :)

You can read the comment in context, here.

New edition of EAB Update now online

Thursday, July 9th, 2009 by Radio

Did you know that you can read copies of EAB Update online at the EAB website? Update is the quarterly newsletter of EAB, which is sent to all members and supporters of the association in paper format. A few weeks after each edition is published, however, a pdf version is uploaded to the website so that even non-members are able to read the latest news and articles.

The July – September 2009 issue has just been uploaded and can be read online here. The current edition includes an extensive review of the recent British Esperanto Congress in Salisbury written by JEBano Tim Owen, as well as a report on recent JEB activity written by JEB secretary, Clare Hunter. Update also contains details about forthcoming events, such as the British Esperanto Congress 2010 in Llandudno, and a wealth of other news items, letters and opinions, making it well worth a read :)

Summer Meet-Up 09

Monday, July 6th, 2009 by Tim

I write a tired man, having driven from Felixstowe to Leicester yesterday, via Birmingham, and then having to get to the office for 06:30.

It was worth the journey, though, because I was returning from JEB’s summer meet-up in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

We had a pretty good turn-out, nine people by my count, including a new person :)

Saturday was a pretty big travel day for Tim and Clare, and Mikeo in particular, coming all the way from Manchester-ish. Because of the later arrival, the afternoon was spent chatting at one of our friend’s house and going out for a meal, before walking along the beach.

Sunday was a little busier, since we visited Landguard Fort, an installation set up on the wishes of Henry VIII and active in preventing invasion from the Dutch in the seventeenth century, before finally being discommisioned in 1956.

It was a very pleasant weekend in a nice locale, and well worth attending.
